After a day of sightseeing in Rome, we headed back to our apartment to relax for a bit before we went out to find something to eat and drink. We were literally less than a block from our apartment when Susan noticed a bar (not that that is any shocker) that is really a microbrewery – Ritual Lab Microbrewery. They have a pub and small restaurant called Ritual Pab. (As of October 2017, the website doesn’t have any information.) We did what any good beer person does, we went to check it out. (Ritual Pab, Via Crescenzio, 2 near Castelo Sant Angelo and the Supreme Court)
The bar itself is in the basement. There’s brewing equipment when you get to the bottom of the steps on your left. When we asked if they were brewing on site, they said no. They are going through the permitting process to brew on-site which they said is very difficult in Rome. They told us, “We will get the license”. They have a kitchen on site for some light food.
As you can see, the bar is very narrow at the front and opens at the back.
When we were there, they also had beers from Oklahoma and Ohio. They get their imported beer from a place in Belgium and told their importer to get their hands on as much US micro-brewed beer as they could. According to them, a keg of U.S. micro beer can cost 600 – 700 Euros ($720 – $840 US Dollars) but price wasn’t a concern. They would sell any US micro quickly.
Mark had the LA Bock and Susan had a Ritual Pils – both German Style beers made by Ritual Pab and quite tasty.
We also a small dinner there – burger for Mark that was large and a salad for Susan. Both items were very good. We went back a second night for a beer after dinner but didn’t venture out to other beers.
