We were in search of a place to have drink, either wine or a beer, and as we walked down the shopping street which was super packed on a Friday afternoon, we noticed a beer case in the store window. The store was named “Home Brewing Store”. We went inside to check out the store since we are homebrewers. We didn’t find much in terms of homebrewing equipment, but we saw a number of bottles from small craft breweries in Italy. We then noticed a sign that said to visit their Tasting Room, De Cervesia. We noted the address (or part of the address) – 20 Via Michele Rosi – and decided to play detective to find it and enjoy an Italian craft beer! Streets in Lucca are not straight like in Colorado so finding addresses can be an adventure.
When searching for the Cervesia Tasting Room, look for the address – Via Michele Rosi, 20 – especially the “20” – and NOT a sign. The only store sign is on the front glass which has a bench in front of it. We looked for a sign, but couldn’t see it as 3 people and a dog were sitting on the bench, effectively blocking the tap room name.
When you get to this arch coming from the center of Lucca, you are almost at the tap room.

This is the sidewalk/drinking are for Cervesia Tasting Room. Since there’s only 2 seats at the bar, everyone takes the beer and stands outside drinking it. We were there Friday about 5 PM when the tap room opened and the sidewalks just got more crowded as the evening went on. It’s open Tuesday – Sunday, 5 PM – 10 PM.
There’s room for maybe 4 more people in the tasting room
The Tasting Room maximum capacity must be 10 people

There are 4 beers on tap and 1 cask beer (BeerBera Sour from BeerLover Brewery). We both tried a Belgium Wit style beer, Seta, from a “local” microbrewery, Birrifcio Rurale, near Milan.

I had a Sour beer, BeerBera, from LoverBeer Brewery and the bartender told us that 90% of that beer is exported outside Italy. He said some beer ends up in the US
