If it’s a sunny, Saturday afternoon, it must be beer time! (In full disclosure we don’t need it to be sunny, or Saturday to drink a craft beer.) We had a nice walk from downtown Hobart to Shambles Brewery, located in an old building that used to house meatpackers’ union.
Only in Australia – or maybe only in Hobart … if you check the website, you’ll see that the tasting room is closed on Public Holidays!

Nice modern bar room. Why aren’t more people enjoying the beer at 2 PM on a Saturday?
In the back of the building is the brewery and, what I term, a “play area”. They have a portable bar, several bar tables, and a ping pong table. I assume that this area is used for private parties or overflow on busy days.

House Rules for Ping Pong at Shambles – I am sure many people will be disappointed to see the “No beer pong”! We also wonder if the contravention is violated, whose balls are removed ?
